Dubai: Dubai’s International City has welcomed back Lala Darbar, the popular Pakistani restaurant, with a grand reopening led by cricket legend Shahid Afridi.
Known for his explosive cricketing career and deep cultural roots, Afridi aims to turn the restaurant into a culinary ambassador for Pakistan.
At the relaunch event, Afridi shared his passion for food and heritage, promising diners an authentic experience that blends traditional Pakistani dishes like biryani, seekh kebabs, and matka chai with a newly refreshed, modern ambience.
Speaking to the media, Afridi described Lala Darbar as more than a restaurant: “It’s about food made with love, representing the heart of Pakistan’s culinary soul.”
He emphasized the venue’s family-friendly design, infused with bold Pakistani elements.
Beyond food, Afridi used the platform to advocate for peace between Pakistan and India, stressing the importance of keeping sports and politics separate and fostering regional cooperation.
Lala Darbar’s revival is a collaborative effort between Afridi and his partners Saleem Karsaz, Imran Paracha, Fahad Abdullah, and Hamdan Yaseen who aim to make it a symbol of home for Pakistanis abroad.
